flawless divinity in motion
I remember once, during a road trip in America last year, the whole gang was listening to my music player. After I played Michael Jackson’s ‘Smooth Criminal’, one of my friends said, “Jenny, can you please play something that people actually listen to?!”
I switched the next song to a Jay Chou one without saying anything, but I was pretty upset. I thought everyone loved a bit of Michael Jackson..after all, I believe most of us grew up to his music?
I started listening to MJ before I even understood what he was actually singing about. My sisters were big fans of his, and when I was five, I told my eldest sister that I hated the album cover for Dangerous because it freaked me out. I also remember watching my second sister trying to emulate MJ’s legendary moonwalk and failing miserably at it. That was funny. I remember watching MJ’s Black Or White music video with utter awe and envy because he was dancing all around the world. I swore that someday, I will travel around the world like MJ too. I later learnt that it was just CG, but still, his music videos impacted a whole era of pop culture.
I wonder where our copy of Dangerous went. Hmm.
I would like to live forever. – Michael Jackson
He was such a kind and gentle man. So misunderstood and maligned by the evil public and media. He never got a chance to grow up in the appropriate social manner no thanks to his abusive childhood and his possession of an insane level of fame and money. Instead of viewing Neverland as a place for him to redeem his childhood and as a place to provide happiness for children with special needs, people chose to see it as a creepy place, when there was nothing harmful about it in the very first place.
It makes me really mad how those hypocrites are mourning him now and finally realising that it’s all about his musical genius at the end of the day, when they used to say such disgusting mean things about him.
I wish there were more people who sincerely reached out to help him when he was still alive. Only Dame Elizabeth Taylor was there for him.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the document [Jackson's will] —which will no doubt be the centerpiece of a lengthy and ferocious legal battle in months to come — divides the superstar’s estate among his mother, his three children (Prince Michael, Paris-Michael and Prince Michael II) and at least one charity.
꽃보다 남자
Just when I thought I have totally outgrown my juvenile past of being a rabid fangirl, 꽃보다 남자 (Boys Over Flowers) comes along and brings me all googly eye again over its gorgeous lead actors.
I always thought that the Japanese version was the best ever and nothing could possibly top it, so I was very skeptical when news of the Korean version came out. But now, at episode 16, I am totally floored by KBS’s wonderful interpretation of the hit manga.
The production values of the Korean version rivals the Japanese version, and the best thing is that all four Korean actors playing F4 are drop-dead gorgeous. ALL FOUR! The lead, Lee Min Ho, looks like a god-given combination of Jerry Yan and Takuya Kimura. Towering above everyone else at 1.86m, he also looks the best with Domyoji Tsukasa’s trademark curly hair. Matsumoto Jun got pwned, big time.

Shooting of a fourth version by China is apparently now underway, but um, yeah. I don’t think I’ll be too interested in it.
